Not Your Average Witch

You might know about me through my graphic novel Witchbody (nominated for the Doug Wright Awards, winner of the LGBT Youthline Postsecondary Achievement Award), through the 5-minute Sabrina the Millennial Witch documentary by Barcroft TV (2+ million views), the two 5-minute docs on me by Vice TV, my old spirituality column on Little Red Tarot (now archived on my blog), or other press I've received in Witches Magazine (x2), Ghosts Magazine, Clin d’Oeil Magazine, Refinery 29, Nylon (for my book Witchbody, and again on manifesting your dream home and manifesting good sex), Sabat Magazine, Venefica, The Puritan, Broken Pencil, YYZ, Cunning Folk, HerCampus, and others.

Maybe you’ve heard me on Metro Morning, FemRadio, Coast2CoastAM, Magick Without Fears, Down at the Crossroads, BAE Podcast, To Know The Land, Spiritual Chill Pill, The Lion the Witch and the Podcast, and more. I’ve also spoken at many events, conferences and symposiums spanning from topics such as poetry, comics, environmental philosophy, tarot, and witchcraft, including the Occult Poetics Symposium, and a pop-up event at Indigo.

Or maybe you know me because I’m a popular tarot reader in Toronto, reading tarot cards at private parties, corporate events, and with fantastic clients worldwide on Zoom.

No-Nonsense, Raw Spirituality

I went to my first séance at eight and grew up in Modern American Spiritualism. I’ve been doing witchcraft and reading tarot cards for more than 20 years, and I’ve built a global reputation as one of the best tarot readers in the business.

Reading tarot for others is a service I am honoured to provide; this is the cornerstone of my professional practice, and I am always deeply humbled by the trust I am gifted by my clients.

My approach to witchcraft is deeply intuitive and mediumistic, with a focus on trance, ecstasy, and communing with the dead. I see magic as a way of building relationship with non-human beings. If you’re interested in learning more about my tarot reading services, please click here.

I have a passion for connecting people to the spirituality, power, intuition, and creativity that is always already inside them; seeing students and clients flourish and bloom is one of my greatest joys.

Academic Yet Approachable

Apart from my decades of experience in mediumship, magic, divination, and tarot, I am also deeply rooted in academic research. What I share about magic and witchcraft is based on both my years of spirit work and my thorough knowledge of the history of witchcraft and the philosophy of science, spirituality, and environment.

I have a varied educational background - and I synthesize this knowledge in all that I do, whether it’s working on new book projects, creating illustrations, teaching tarot, or giving spiritual consultations. I have a BDes in Illustration with minors in Digital & Media Studies, Communication Design, and Printmaking (well, two courses short on that one, but whatever, haha). My Masters is in Environmental Studies, with a diploma in Environmental and Sustainability Education. I’m currently working on my PhD in Science and Technology Studies, otherwise known as History and Philosophy of Science.

I’m in the dissertation stage of my PhD, which involves a lot of reading, thinking, and writing! My research focuses on the contemporary (spiritual) wellness industry, and grounds itself in new philosophies that expand notions of the public sphere (OOO, ANT, agential realism), the history and present of medicine (health, illness, madness, institution), as well as the anthropology of sense, sensation, and affect (through practices such as magic and Spiritualism). I’m interested in interplays between science, magic, spirituality, healing, and health, with particular interest in trauma, post-traumatic growth and the circulation of affect.

Love for Teaching

For four years I was a university professor at the best design school in Canada, and have experience in course/curriculum design, and teaching small and large groups of people of all ages, both in studio and lecture-based contexts.

I quit in order to pursue my own spiritual teaching projects, which culminated in the creation of my popular Tarot Without Bullshit online course, as well as shorter masterclasses on Tarot at the End of the World and the Tarot Boss Masterclass. I also teach Magic Without Bullshit, my kickass online course on witchcraft, as well as a self-study workshop on Visualizing Energy Work. Or, you may be interested in my Claim Your Magic affirmation series, or my very vulnerable and jam-packed with juicy info masterclass on Witchcraft, Feminine Energy, and Plastic Surgery.

Click here to check out more about my online courses and see which are currently open for enrollment.

If you’d like to be notified when these courses are open for enrollment, please subscribe to my newsletter by clicking here.

In addition to writing on spirituality, witchcraft, and tarot, I also write about how these themes relate to recovery, trauma, violence, dysfunctional family systems, disability, chronic illness, wellness, and healing.

At the moment I am working on multiple book projects and developing new online courses on magic, tarot professionalization, and feminine energy.

I LOVE interviews and media requests! Say hi.

PS: I was a keynote speaker at Cambridge University.

Yep, THAT cool fancy one in the UK!

Check out this 30 minute lecture I was invited to give for an event series on Magic and Ecology, put on by folks at Cambridge University’s CRASSH (Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities). It’s a great introduction to who I am, what I do, what I believe, and how I talk about it - and this speaker series was even named after my first book, Witchbody.
